Man United already have Rayan Cherki transfer advantage over Tottenham thanks to Ineos

Manchester United are reportedly leading the transfer race to sign Rayan Cherki in the summer alongside Premier League rivals Tottenham. Fortunately, Ruben Amorim's side have an advantage in a potential transfer war.

Lyon star Cherki has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs following his eye-catching performances in France. Capable of playing out wide or as an attacking midfielder, the 21-year-old ticks so many boxes for United.

Within Amorim's 3-4-3 system, emphasis is placed on the two players next to the centre-forward. Unfortunately, the current players have been unable to perform at the level needed, with a lack of creativity a major problem.

United are seemingly working towards signing at least two attacking players this summer. Matheus Cunha is a priority at Old Trafford with a centre-forward also identified as a top target, but their business may not stop at just two.

Caught Offside have claimed that United and Spurs are currently leading the race for Cherki with Bayern Munich shortly behind. Amorim got the chance to scout the Frenchman himself in the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon, where he scored twice.

The report adds that Lyon have set a price tag of €30million-€35m (£25.4m-£29.7m), a figure that could appease United. At 21, his numbers this season have been impressive with 12 goals and 19 assists.

If the report is accurate and United are competing with Tottenham for Cherki, they have plenty of reason to be optimistic. Spurs, very similar to United, have endured a terrible 2024/25 campaign but can rescue their dignity by lifting the Europa League title.
