Man United have Europa League final advantage over Tottenham thanks to Erik ten Hag
Manchester United have one foot in the Europa League final after beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the first-leg of their semi-final date with the Spanish side. First-half goals from Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes meant Ruben Amorim has one eye on the final.
Following a disastrous campaign in the Premier League, United could still seal a spot in the Champions League for next season. Lifting the Europa League would mean Ruben Amorim's men will compete with Europe's elite.
This weekend's Premier League clash with Brentford is expected to see a heavily-rotated squad before the return leg next week. All eyes will be on the game at Old Trafford, but there will be many keeping an eye on Tottenham and their second leg against Bodo/Glimt.
Spurs, who themselves have endured a terrible season in the Premier League, are currently 3-1 up against the Norwegian side. Ange Postecoglou's men raced into a 3-0 lead but Bodo/Glimt added some nerves in north London with a late consolation meaning the tie was far from over.
Should United and Spurs get the job done, an all-English Europa League final - the first since 2019 - will be played in Bilbao. In comedic fashion, it's quite humorous that the teams in 14th and 16th of the Premier League table are competing for a European title.
United, however, haven't beat Spurs since March 2022, failing to win in the last seven fixtures. This season, Tottenham have defeated United on three different occasions, it's fair to say that the north Londoners have been a bogey team for United.
