Man United have an obvious transfer alternative they can turn to if Matheus Cunha plan fails

After missing out on a winners medal at the European Championship with England last summer, Eberechi Eze will be targeting a maiden trophy triumph of his career at Wembley next month.

The 26-year-old fired in an exquisite opener for Crystal Palace on Saturday, helping them beat Aston Villa 3-0 at the national stadium to progress to their first FA Cup final since being beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in 2016.

Eze's thunderous strike was his ninth goal of the campaign across all competitions, meaning he has now been directly involved in 20 goals this season, having also registered 11 assists. His strike at Wembley was arguably the pick of the bunch.

Since joining Palace from QPR in August 2020, the England international's stock has risen considerably, and it is currently at an all-time high.

His haul of 20 direct goal contributions this season is his best return since swapping west London for south east London almost five years ago. His previous best was a return of 17 direct goal contributions last season.

With his numbers rising year-on-year, it is little wonder big clubs are sitting up and taking notice of his performances. As reported by the Manchester Evening News last September, the Greenwich-born attacker is of interest to United.

Of course, since this publication confirmed United's interest in Eze, a lot has changed at Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim transforming United's formation and style of play since succeeding Erik ten Hag last October.
