Manchester United face Antony transfer decision as new club make 'enquiry'

Atletico Madrid have enquired about Antony's availability, according to reports in Spain.

The Brazilian has found a new lease of life in LaLiga after joining Real Betis on loan during the January transfer window. Antony has been a standout performer, impressing to the point that Betis are now keen to make the move permanent.

Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has already dropped a major transfer hint about the 25-year-old. "It is a source of satisfaction on a personal level [to have brought Antony to Real Betis], but it is the result of teamwork," he said.

"Although I am responsible for the sporting management, there are many people involved in this signing. It’s still early, but we will try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony."

Manager Manuel Pellegrini also voiced his satisfaction with the winger. "I see Antony very involved in the team, in the group, in the institution," Pellegrini said. "We would all be happy if he stayed, but now we have to focus on the present."

But it now appears that Antony has caught the eye of Atletico. Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, journalist Marco Benito confirmed the interest.

"Atletico have set their sights on a Brazilian winger as well. They told me that they have their eye on Antony, a player currently at Betis, on loan from Manchester United.

"I'm also told that United would be willing to sell him for a fee of between €40m-€50million (£34m-£42m) and that Atletico have already enquired about him."

Antony’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain beyond the summer, with head coach Ruben Amorim expected to make a decision upon his return.
