Man United great Roy Keane confirms intentions to quit Sky Sports and ITV pundit role

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has revealed he intends to quit punditry within the next 10 years.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who turned 53 last Saturday, has been gracing our screens with increasing frequency since he first joined ITV's punditry team in 2011. He later became a familiar face on Sky Sports from the 2019/20 season onwards.

Since then, Keane's become a fan favourite thanks to his no-nonsense approach. But while he relishes the analysis, he's not fond of other aspects of the job, and it's for that reason that he can't see himself still doing the job into his 60s.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, he explained: “I don’t think I’ll be doing punditry in 10 years’ time. Absolutely not.

"The games are fine. Getting to the games, parking up, people shouting your name – good stuff, bad stuff – it’s a nuisance. Being a pundit in 10 years, not."

Keane was in court earlier this year regarding an incident at the Emirates Stadium in which he clashed with a fan following the game. The incident occurred following Arsenal's 3-1 win over United in September.

Arsenal season ticket holder Scott Law, 43, was found guilty of common assault and given a three-year football banning order for head-butting Keane – an ordeal which has clearly taken its toll on him.

Keane travelled to Germany to cover Euro 2024 for ITV just days after the court case concluded, and he'll soon be back working for Sky
