Roy Keane’s relationship with Micah Richards clear after Man City hero’s comments on Man Utd rival
Micah Richards and Roy Keane have became a highlight for Sky Sports audiences, through their growing rapport that defies expectations.
Former Manchester United skipper Keane is known for his tough demeanour on and off the pitch, and transitioned into punditry with Sky Sports in 2019 after a stint as assistant manager to Martin O'Neill for the Republic of Ireland national team. Sky Sports regulars were well-versed in Keane's direct and uncompromising commentary style, but pairing him with ex-Manchester City defender Richards has revealed another dimension to the Irishman's personality.
Richards, known for his vibrant and humorous approach, contrasts sharply with Keane's typically stern punditry. Contrary to predictions, Richards' lively nature hasn't clashed with Keane's analytical seriousness; instead, they've struck up an endearing partnership – with Richards often eliciting a rare grin from the usually stoic Keane.

The dynamic between them was something Richards never expected to develop with the United icon. "Roy is everything I didn't expect him to be," Richards told The Athletic in 2022. He added: "It's hard to explain without going over the top, but there's this perception that he's an angry, old... but he's the nicest, most considerate guy.
"And on the other hand, I think I've helped bring out a side of him that a lot of people wouldn't see. And I take great pride in that. I know I sometimes go a bit over the top in terms of getting reactions, but I love working with him."
