Man United could make Alejandro Garnacho transfer U-turn to spark four signings
Alejandro Garnacho has no future at Manchester United yet he is still on the club's books. The forward was told to find a new club by Ruben Amorim before the end of May following the Europa League final defeat.
Following United's loss in Bilbao to Tottenham, Garnacho vented his frustrations at only being used from the 71st-minute. A catalogue of behaviour incidents and social media activity has left the 20-year-old having no choice but to leave.
Despite Napoli having a bid rejected in January and Chelsea being interested, there has been little movement in cashing-in on the Argentine. Interest in Italy and Spain has been present this summer but Garnacho's preference is to stay in the Premier League.
United have already sought two replacements for Garnacho, two options who better suit Amorim's system, in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Once the latter completes his move from Brentford, United would have spent more than £120m on new recruits.
But their dreaded ultimatum in this window is finally set to stare them in the face. United know if they want to add to their list of new signings, players must be sold. Garnacho tops the list of unwanted players with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony. The problem: United are yet to get close to selling them.
It's been previously stated that United wanted around £60m-£70m for Garnacho. That price tag has put off a number of suitors. Now, the Daily Star have reported that the club's desperation to get him out has resulted in them coming to terms with the realisation that they may have to lower their demand.
The report adds that United might have to accept around £45m for Garnacho. That fee would still count as pure profit and come as a significant boost for the club's battle
