Man United 'consider activating £16m transfer clause' as Marcus Rashford deadline set

Manchester United had a busy summer transfer window but could have been more active in the market.

That is because several players who could have moved elsewhere stayed at Old Trafford. Antony is still on the squad despite barely playing so far this season, and the same is true of Victor Lindelof, albeit his injury has affected his availability to date.

Christian Eriksen also attracted interest and, like Lindelof, is out of contract this summer. Amad, Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, and Harry Maguire are also in this situation, though United retains options to extend the latter and the former's deals by an additional year.

Contrastingly, only this summer's signings have longer on their contracts than Marcus Rashford, but that does not mean he will still be at United when that deal expires in the summer of 2028. With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News takes a closer look at the latest transfer headlines around Old Trafford.
