Amad five-word verdict hints at Man United future amid transfer speculation

Few Manchester United players generate the same level of excitement among fans as Amad does.

The winger's pace, skill, and fearless energy were always going to attract attention. Scoring United's famous winning goal against Liverpool in last season's FA Cup quarter-final has also helped him rise to stardom quicker than many other forwards at OId Trafford.

Amad's impressive performances while on loan at Sunderland are another example of why there is so much intrigue. This is not just a player who was a prolific goalscorer for the Reds' academy; Amad demonstrated in the Championship that he has plenty of character to go with the flair.

It's why there was so much anger when United boss Erik ten Hag opted to replace Marcus Rashford with Antony during Thursday's draw against Fenerbahce. Choosing not to play him in recent Premier League games was one thing, but to bring on a player who has struggled badly instead of the young Ivorian saw frustration boil over.

After impressing in the early stages of the season, Ten Hag has left Amad on the bench in United's previous two Premier League matches. It's a decision which has left many dumbfounded.

There will now be a genuine fear that, with less than a year left on his contract, he will depart M16 for free next summer. While the club are expected to offer the winger a new long-term contract in the coming months, they do retain the option of extending his current deal for a further year until 2026.
