Man United can grant double Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte wish with Ruben Amorim

Bruno Fernandes has previously given several hints that Ruben Amorim would be the perfect candidate for the Manchester United job as the club are in talks with the Portuguese to succeed Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag's two-and-a-half year tenure ended on Monday following United's 2-1 defeat at West Ham on Sunday. For the meantime, Ruud van Nistelrooy is expected to take charge of the team as the interim boss.

And Fernandes has already hinted at whom he believes has the qualities for the job. Despite swapping Sporting Clube de Portugal for United a couple of months before Amorim's arrival, the Portuguese captain has kept a close eye on his former club over the years and has grown fond of the 39-year-old coach.

Amorim had an immediate impact in Lisbon during his debut season, guiding the Lions to their first league title in 19 years. The in-demand boss has already rejected a move to West Ham while Liverpool considered him as Jurgen Klopp's successor.

There has also been speculation about him possibly joining Manchester City after Sporting's transfer chief Hugo Viana was confirmed as new director of football. However, he could be soon heading to the other side of Manchester and the Manchester Evening News understands Amorim has agreed in principle to become the next United manager. A compensation fee is now being negotiated by the clubs.
