Man United are doing 'unspoken deal' with PSG to seal Manuel Ugarte transfer

Manchester United have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Joao Neves in a bid to increase their chances of securing Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte.

The Reds are juggling multiple transfer targets as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his squad for the upcoming season. United are nearing a deal with Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Although his release clause was set at £34million, it's believed United have agreed to pay a slightly higher fee over the next three years in instalments. The Old Trafford club had also been linked with Benfica midfielder Neves but have seemingly made a strategic decision to put their interest on hold.

And now Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that United have ceased their pursuit of the £84million-rated playmaker, shifting their attention to Ugarte instead. It appears that United have cleared the way for PSG to sign Neves, with the 19-year-old emerging as a top target for the French giants.

They seem to be intensifying their efforts to secure his signature, with Le 10 Sport reporting that PSG are prepared to go all in during negotiations with Benfica. Neves has been widely tipped to become one of Europe's leading midfielders, and Benfica are reportedly unwilling to let him go for anything less than a premium fee.

This suggests that PSG will likely have to meet the full value of his £84m release clause to bring him to the Parc des Princes, reports the Express.
