Man suffers 'life-threatening' injuries in Middleton Shopping Centre attack

A man suffered 'life-threatening' injuries in an attack at Middleton Shopping Centre.

Officers swarmed the shopping centre yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after reports of an 'assault'. Officers found a man who was seriously hurt, police said.

The incident is reported to have happened in the toilets inside the shopping centre. Reports suggested the man was stabbed, but this has not been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police said the man was rushed to hospital from the scene with 'life-threatening injuries'. No arrests have been made.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. Emergency services were said to be 'all over' the shopping centre yesterday afternoon, with police, paramedics and forensic officers on the scene.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 3.50pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 6 August 2024), we were called to reports of an assault at Middleton Shopping Centre. Officers found a man with serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were described as life-threatening. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
