Man said he was an 'angry teddy' after learning his Mercedes was used in a convoy to burn the car involved in murder of Elle Edwards

A man referred to himself as an "angry teddy" after discovering his Mercedes was used in a convoy to burn the car involved in the murder of Elle Edwards. The 26-year-old beautician was fatally shot outside the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey, Wirral, on Christmas Eve in 2022.

Connor Chapman was found guilty of her murder in July last year and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 48 years. Four individuals two men and two women are facing trial at Liverpool Crown Court, charged with assisting an offender related to the shooting.

David Chambers, Danielle Dowdall, Roxanne Matthews, and Paul Owen have all pleaded not guilty to their charges. During the trial, a jury consisting of eight men and four women heard a readout of Owen's interview with Merseyside Police after his arrest, which occurred while he was "just sat down to have his tea" at his residence on Kiln Road, Woodchurch, on January 19, 2023, an event he described as a "total shock".

This development followed the tracking of his Mercedes GLC, which had been driven on false plates alongside the Mercedes A-Class used in the murder, to a location in Frodsham, Cheshire, where the latter was set alight.

However, when questioned about his awareness of the arrest reasons, Owen informed the detectives: "The first I knew is when police came through my door last night."

"I've obviously seen on the news about this lad who got arrested for the shooting. That's as far as I know basically, what I've seen on the telly. As far as I know, I don't even know the lad.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

Owen revealed he had arranged to buy cocaine and cannabis
