Man rushed to hospital with 'life-changing' injuries after 'targeted attack' in Bolton

A man has been rushed to hospital with 'life-changing' injuries after a 'targeted attack' in Bolton.

Emergency services were scrambled to Chorley Old Road at around 4:40pm on Saturday (August 10) following reports of a serious assault.

One man was taken to hospital with 'serious life-changing' injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. No arrests have been made.

Greater Manchester Police said the attack is believed to be 'targeted' with no wider threat to the community at this time. They are now appealing for witnesses as investigations continue.

Pictures of the scene showed a large emergency services presence with paramedics helping an individual before he was taken to hospital.

In a statement, the force said: "At around 4.40pm today (10 August 2024), officers were called to reports of a serious assault on Chorley Old Road, Bolton. One man was taken to hospital with serious life-changing injuries not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

"No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing. It is believed to be a targeted attack with no wider threat to the community.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 2339 of 10/08/24. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
