Panfield Road was taped off after the attack with a huge cordon in place. Pictures of the scene show armed police flooding the area and several police vehicles, including a CSI van, and a welfare unit stationed on the road.

A police officer was spotted photographing a knife lying on the road at the scene and a house within the cordon was pictured with one of its front windows smashed.
