Man fighting for his life and another seriously injured after motorbike crash

A man has been left fighting for his life and another man is seriously injured after a motorbike crash in Rochdale.

The smash happened on Spotland Road at around 8pm last night (Thursday), police said. A motorbike travelling down the street collided with a man.

Both the rider and the man were rushed to hospital. One of the males suffered 'life-threatening' injuries, officers said.

The other was seriously injured. They both remain in hospital for treatment.

This incident was separate from another incident that happened on nearby Whitworth Road at around 5pm last night, the Manchester Evening News understands. Any witnesses are being urged to come forward.

A statement posted on the GMP Rochdale Facebook page said: "APPEAL | We’re investigating a serious collision that occurred on Spotland Road in #Rochdale last night (01/09/2022) that has left one man with what has been described as life threatening injuries and another man with serious injuries. At around 8pm last night (2 September 2022), officers were called to reports that a motorcycle being ridden on Spotland Road in Rochdale had collided with a man.

"Both the rider and the man were taken to hospital where they are continuing to receive treatment. Our enquiries are ongoing and we appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage from around the area at the time, to get in touch with us on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 3059 of 01/09/2022.

"Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
