Man City Women's star Jill Roord suffers ACL injury
Manchester City Women star Jill Roord has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, the club has announced. The Dutch international got injured during Wednesday's 2-1 League Cup victory over Manchester United at Joie Stadium.
In a statement on their official website, City said: "Jill will remain under the care of City's medical team and will begin her rehabilitation. Everyone at City wishes her a full and speedy recovery."
Roord, who joined City from Wolfsburg last summer, has scored eight goals and provided three assists for Gareth Taylor's team so far.
The 26-year-old is the latest high-profile WSL player to suffer an ACL injury. Chelsea's Sam Kerr and Arsenal's Leah Williamson have also been sidelined with similar injuries. Arsenal's Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema, a fellow Dutch international, have made comebacks this season after suffering the same injury.
