I disagree with Gary Neville Premier League title prediction as Man City see new Arsenal threat

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes Gary Neville is wrong to suggest Mikel Arteta's side are better-equipped for the Premier League title race than they were last season.

The Gunners are currently third in the table after 24 games, level on points with Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's men, who have a game in hand, are two points off leaders Liverpool in a title race that's expected to go to the wire.

City have the opportunity to go to the top of the table for the first time since November next week when they take on Brentford in their game in hand. Many have tipped the Citizens to win their fourth straight league title but Neville has stuck with his prediction that Arsenal will be crowned champions.

Recently, the ex-Man United defender suggested that the north Londoners are better chasing the title this season rather than leading the way like last term. Arsenal were top for 248 days last season but still managed to fall short to City.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "It was around this time last year that there was a lot of pressure on Arsenal because they were so many points clear.

"Everyone thought they’d win the League. But now they are sat there in the pack, right on the shoulder, and it may suit them better.

"They’ve not produced their best form to this point but they have in the last couple of weeks started to look like they will hit the same form as last season that put them into a position of winning the league. They need to stay focused, calm and keep their players fit."
