City have employed a very clever practice of buying foreign talent in recent years, and it appears the tactic is showing no signs of slowing down. Like City have done with Julian Alvarez and Maximo Perrone, it appears Pep Guardiola's side have identified their next young, promising Argentinian prospect.

The Manchester Evening News understands City plan to sign 18-year-old River Plate wonderkid Claudio Echeverri this month as they attempt to repeat the success of Alvarez.
It appears City will agree to loan back the youngster until they feel they will need him. In Alvarez’s case, it was six months after the club agreed to sign the forward - with the Argentinian linking up with Guardiola and his new teammates in the summer of 2022.
Psychologically, this trick is beneficial as it gives the young player an objective to work towards. While physically, it offers time for the youngster to develop for the Premier League.
All of this development takes place at their original club, where they are already settled and happy. It is safe to say that Julian Alvarez was the first case study for City and the 23-year-old went on to win the World Cup and the Treble last season.
