Man City summer transfer ratings as Haaland looks like a bargain already

Manchester City have been busy this summer as they have seen a number of key players leave and five new players arrive.

Deadline day saw Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji arrive to bolster the defence, joining Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Stefan Ortega in signing permanently, while Julian Alvarez linked up with the Blues after spending the initial months following his January signing back at River Plate.

It's also been a busy summer of exits, with nine permanent players leaving City and a number of youth players leaving on loan. We've ranked all of City's significant ins and outs over the summer, taking into account their value, how they've done so far, and whether they will represent good business going forward.

City beat off competition from top clubs around Europe, paid a very reasonable £51m fee, and Haaland has already repaid them with nine goals in his first five Premier League games. He's already well on his way to being a huge success. 9

Injury has restricted his minutes so far, but has looked promising in the friendly games he's played. When fit, will give City a different, yet reliable, option in midfield, and represents decent value for an England international in a World Cup year. 7

A late transfer to boost the numbers in defence, Akanji seems to come with decent pedigree and has important European experience, but it's too early to say if he will fit in without yet kicking a ball. Still, he's low-risk at £15m. 6
