Man City star Ruben Dias fires message to Ruben Amorim after arriving at Man United

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has sent a message to Ruben Amorim following his arrival at Manchester United.

Amorim started work as the new United head coach on Monday after his appointment earlier this month. The 39-year-old managed his final game at Sporting CP on Sunday - a 4-2 win over Braga - before boarding a private jet to Manchester Airport and then arriving at United's Carrington Training Ground.

A couple of hours later, United confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has taken charge of the last four games as interim head coach after the sacking of Erik ten Hag, will leave the club. Amorim has decided not to keep Van Nistelrooy on board and will instead hire his own coaching staff.

Amorim has just under two weeks to prepare for his first game at the helm when United travel to Ipswich on Sunday, November 24. And in the meantime, Amorim's compatriot Dias has reacted to his appointment at United and even had a message for the former Braga and Benfica winger.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Dias said: "I need to check if when I went to the first-team when I was a youngster, if he was still there [at Benfica]. We were close together at least. I wish him well, not too well. It's another Portuguese coming into the main stage of the football world so I'm happy for that."

Van Nistelrooy won three out of his four games at the helm, drawing the other against Chelsea. His United side beat Leicester 3-0 on Sunday thanks to Bruno Fernandes, a Victor Kristiansen own-goal and Alejandro Garnacho's late strike.
