Man City seal £8.4m transfer with clause as defender issues statement

Sergio Gomez has spoken about an unforgettable experience at Manchester City after completing an £8.4m move to Real Sociedad.

Gomez, 23, was originally signed as a future prospect in 2022 but was instead immediately thrust into Pep Guardiola's first-team squad when the Blues backed out of the race to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton. The fee for Gomez takes City's summer sales to nearly £40m following money received for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle, and Douglas Luiz. Liam Delap is expected to join Ipswich in a move that will add another £20m.
