Man City 'renew' Declan Rice interest as price tag set and other transfer rumours

Manchester City have renewed their interest in Declan Rice ahead of a potential midfield revamp, according to reports.

West Ham United captain Rice will have two years remaining on his contract this summer but is widely expected to leave in search of Champions League football and major trophies. The 24-year-old came through the Hammers academy after being let go by Chelsea and has gone on to make more than 200 appearances over seven seasons.

Speaking while representing England in Qatar, the midfielder admitted he felt a level of envy in seeing his Three Lions teammates celebrating silverware in the clearest suggestion to date that he was looking to do similar. And 90min report that City could rejoin the race to sign Rice in the summer as Pep Guardiola plans to overhaul his midfield.

The Blues could end up losing two regular first-team options in the summer, with Bernardo Silva again likely to explore his options amid interest from Spain while Ilkay Gundogan's contract expires in June.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star report that Nathan Ake is set to be handed a new long-term contract in the summer as a reward for an excellent season.

The Dutchman has enjoyed his finest spell of form since joining from Bournemouth in June 2020. His 26 appearances in all competitions rank him behind only Manuel Akanji for appearances made by a City defender this season.

Ake's dedication and professionalism even when not regularly playing are said to have impressed Guardiola, who blocked the 28-year-old's return to Chelsea last summer and is now set to offer him a long-term deal.
