Man City 'eye Josko Gvardiol' as Aymeric Laporte successor and other transfer rumours

Manchester City will move for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer if they lose Aymeric Laporte, according to reports.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be showing an interest in Laporte, who has struggled to nail down a consistent starting place this season.

The Daily Star report that City would be willing to let Laporte leave in the summer, should he ask to do so, but would demand upwards of £60million. The report adds that the cash from the sale will go towards Gvardiol, the Leipzig man who was hugely impressive for Croatia at the World Cup.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a long-time admirer of the man who scored against his side in the Champions League last-16 first-leg draw in Leipzig in February but will face competition from a number of top-flight clubs for his signature. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be keen on the 21-year-old.

Elsewhere, Football Transfers report that City may turn to Adrien Rabiot as a potential successor to Ilkay Gundogan.

Gundogan's current contract is set to expire at the end of June, with the German's future still unclear despite talks over a new deal taking place. The 32-year-old will have been at City for seven seasons at that point.

Barcelona are interested in landing Gundogan on a free, and should he decide to call time on a glittering career in Manchester, Guardiola's side could look to Juventus and Rabiot.
