Man City 'preparing to offer Erling Haaland new contract' and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to offer Erling Haaland a new contract after a release clause in his current deal was removed.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are keen to reward the Norwegian striker for his scintillating start to life at the Etihad Stadium following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund last summer. Haaland has registered 48 goals in 41 games in all competitions so far this season.

His contract at City contained a clause that permitted him to leave for £150m in the summer of 2024, should a club have made an approach for him. However, that was cancelled when Pep Guardiola renewed his own contract in November of last year - with the Spaniard extending his stay until 2025.

The report claims there is a belief the 22-year-old striker is open to fresh talks about a new contract. It is thought that Haaland is happy in Manchester and believes City are a club that can help him improve. He has been linked to a move to Real Madrid in recent months, but it appears he will remain with the Blues for the foreseeable future.

Elsewhere, the Sun have reported that Tottenham have joined City and Liverpool in the race to sign Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill, who is currently on loan at Brighton.

The centre-back has impressed for the Seagulls, keeping five clean sheets in 15 appearances across all competitions. The report claims that Spurs, City and Liverpool are all monitoring the player. He is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, and he is expected to make a decision on his future in the summer.
