Manchester United 'handed blow' in Jude Bellingham race and more transfer rumours

Manchester United will be handed a blow in the transfer market with Real Madrid set to sign Jude Bellingham, according to reports.

MEN Sport have reported that Ten Hag wants to sign a young midfielder amid ongoing interest in Frenkie de Jong and Bellingham, though the latter is not short of suitors. The England international has been involved in a year-long saga with several clubs in the race for his signature.

However, reports from the Spanish publication Marca claim that Real Madrid are finalising the signing of Bellingham. It is said that Bellingham, 19, will put pen to paper on a deal running until the summer of 2029.

That has also been backed up by renowned transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano. He reports that a deal to the Bernabeu is almost complete and negotiations are at the final stages.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Denzel Dumfries, who had previously been linked to United. The Inter Milan right-back could be a player the Italian side cash in on, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

MEN Sport have reported that United have held talks with representatives of Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong. Erik Ten Hag is keen to sign a new right-back to offer more attacking intent next season.

Manchester United triggered the extension of Diogo Dalot's contract in December and are in talks with the Portuguese international over a new long-term deal. His future remains up in the air and either he or Aaron Wan-Bissaka could leave to make room for a new defender.
