Man City player ratings vs Liverpool FC with one 7/10 as several struggle in tame defeat
Manchester City were beaten again as Liverpool cruised to a 2-0 win in the Premier League.
Still without Erling Haaland, the Blues slipped to their second defeat in a week with another performance that was decided in the boxes. A decent start was undone when Liverpool scored from a simple corner routine and at half-time the league leaders were 2-0 up.
Pep Guardiola made four subs over the course of the second half to try and change the game but nothing and nobody could make themselves a hero for City. Here are the ratings from the game.
Ederson: A decent save in the second half to stop it getting worse, after a first half where he had basically just picked the ball out of his net twice. 6
Lewis: In what feels like City's season summed up, he was decent apart from the basic errors that contributed to City conceding the first goal. 5
Khusanov: Survived a challenging night at the Bernabeu and he was better here, offering solidity and made good decisions. 6
Ake: Unfortunate for the first goal to deflect in off him but the protests at conceding weren't merited. 5
Gvardiol: Liverpool's second came down his side and he couldn't be as effective going forward as he usually is. 5
Gonzalez: Had a tough job, and was caught in possession a few times in the second half. 5
Foden: Looked stuck between helping Gonzalez in the middle and offering a threat up front, and did neither well. 5
De Bruyne: What looks like a sad farewell for such a great player continued, with early energy fading until an early substitution. 5
Savinho: Worked hard and had some joy on his wing, even if the final moment proved frustratingly beyond him. 6
Doku: Rinsed Alexander-Arnold from the first moment, constantly offering City a way into the Liverpool box. Too
