Man City 'make Ilkay Gundogan contract decision' and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are open to letting Ilkay Gundogan leave the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires this summer - according to reports - amid mooted interest from title rivals Arsenal.

Gundogan, 32, has four months left to run on his current agreement with the Premier League champions and there has been no progress made with regards to an extension. It means the Germany international could end this season looking for new employers after being the first signing made by Pep Guardiola at City.

He was welcomed to the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in 2016. Gundogan has played 285 matches since then with 52 goals and 36 assists in all competitions.

But will the four-time Premier League winner move on? Reports from The Mirror state Gundogan will not be offered longer than a two-year contract should he renew his commitment, while that has been flagged up as one potential stumbling block as Arsenal continue to track the player.

Mikel Arteta tempted Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to leave City for the Gunners last summer.

He has been predicted to repeat that trick with Gundogan, meanwhile, as the midfielder also draws attention from Germany, Spain and Italy due to his contract situation. Gundogan is claimed to earn around £140,000 per-week as part of the deal he signed in 2019.

Elsewhere, reports from TEAMtalk [via The Hard Tackle] indicate Guardiola and key figures responsible for transfers at the Etihad Stadium are "monitoring" Inter Milan full-back Federico Dimarco as one possible replacement for Portugal defender Joao Cancelo.
