Man City have Dani Olmo transfer advantage as Pep Guardiola stance emerges on £51m move

Manchester City are once again being linked with a move for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

Olmo is currently starring for Spain at Euro 2024 and recently helped his country reach the semi-final. Spain claimed a 2-1 victory over hosts Germany on Friday afternoon in extra time to reach the last four.

The Leipzig playmaker opened the scoring for Spain before Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz equalised for the tournament hosts in the final minutes of regulation time. Real Sociedad and former Newcastle midfielder Mikel Merino scored the winner for Spain to send the country through to the semi-final to face France.

Olmo has been linked with a move away from Leipzig for several months, with City and Liverpool being credited with an interest in the past. German news outlet Sport Bild have reported that City and Pep Guardiola are showing a "concrete" interest in signing the Leipzig star.

Reports in the past have suggested that Olmo has a €60million (£51million) release clause in his contract. However, those rumours have been coupled with speculation that the clause could expire on July 15.

Olmo wears the No.7 shirt with Leipzig and it's because of that fact that City could have an advantage in the battle to sign the forward. Joao Cancelo currently wears the same number for City, but there are increased expectations that the Portugal international could leave the Etihad Stadium permanently this summer after loans at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
