Man City have 16 transfer decisions to make before deadline day

While news of new signings continues to be like drawing blood from a stone at Manchester City, there is also work to be done on finding new clubs for over a dozen players.

Any new signings may depend on senior players leaving, although Kevin De Bruyne eased concerns following his Saudi Arabia admissions by confirming he has had no contact from any other club and fully expects to be a City player next season. Talk of Ederson joining the Saudi Pro League has gone silent, while Bernardo Silva is in the same situation he always is - free to leave but someone must pay his value.

The chances of those big-name exits looks unlikely, so what about the more likely players to depart the Etihad?

Joao Cancelo is the most recognisable, having spent the last 18 months out on loan. Barcelona want to keep him, and deleted a farewell post to him on Sunday following the end of his season-long loan. Whether they can afford him permanently is another issue, and any chance of retaining the full-back may come from persuading City to sanction another loan.

Similarly, Kalvin Phillips needs another club - either permanently or on loan - with the door to a City comeback all-but bolted shut. Sergio Gomez will fall further down the pecking order having been selected for the 2024 Olympics this summer which prevent him from playing in pre-season.

There has been reported interest in both fringe players, who played just 136 minutes of Premier League action between them last season, and City would prefer the pair to leave permanently if they can get respectable fees. Failing
