Manchester City are now less than a week away from resuming their Premier League title charge at home to Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola's troops, who signed off for the current international break with a pulsating 4-4 draw against Chelsea last weekend, will welcome Jurgen Klopp's side to the Etihad Stadium next Saturday, signalling the restart of the Premier League campaign. The two sides currently occupy first and second in the table respectively, with City a point better off.

However, the Blues have been dealt a series of injury concerns over the hiatus, the most concerning of which is to star striker Erling Haaland. He twisted his ankle in Norway's 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday, ruling him out of their European Championship qualifier against Scotland on Sunday evening.

Though City will currently be sweating over the availability of Haaland for the upcoming clash with Liverpool, they may take comfort from the fact his chances of getting injured next summer have been eased. Norway's slim hopes of qualifying for next summer's European Championship in Germany were quashed on Saturday, meaning Haaland will be able to put his feet up and relax at the end of this season.

Norway will conclude their European Championship qualifying campaign against Scotland this evening, knowing that even a win will not be enough to see them qualify. They are currently third in Group A, eight and six points behind Spain and Scotland in first and second
