Man City 'confident' of beating Real Madrid in Erling Haaland race and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are said to be confident that they have won the race to sign Erling Haaland this summer.

Haaland is of course set to be one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming transfer window. The Norway international’s release clause at Borussia Dortmund can be triggered at the end of the season, with Europe’s top clubs lining up to try and secure his services.

As well as City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United have all been linked. Reports in recent weeks have suggested City and Real are the frontrunners for the 21-year-old, with the Blues the favourites to sign him.

Speculation over the last few days has suggested Real are stepping up their efforts to land Haaland, having suffered a setback in their bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. It has also been claimed that Haaland himself favours a move to Spain.

Marca, though, report that City are confident they will bring the Dortmund ace to the Etihad. According to the Spanish outlet, the Blues believe they have the 'money and the power' to hold off Real.

Although Haaland’s release clause is reportedly around £67m, whichever club does secure his services will find themselves shelling out much more. It has been suggested the overall deal will likely cost in the region of £300m, taking into account agent fees and player wages.

Elsewhere, City are also said to be interested in one of Haaland’s Dortmund teammates, but face some competition from title rivals Liverpool. Reports are suggesting the two clubs are stepping up their efforts to sign Jude Bellingham.
