Cesc Fabregas gives emphatic verdict on Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool vs Man City title race

Cesc Fabregas has praised the "amazing" work Jurgen Klopp has done at Liverpool as he also delivered his verdict on the Premier League title race between the Reds and Manchester City.

Liverpool moved to within a point of Pep Guardiola's side with a 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby. Andy Robertson gave the Reds the lead on the hour mark, before Divock Origi headed home to seal the victory.

Following City's emphatic 5-1 win over Watford on Saturday, the Reds knew they had to bounce back to keep the pressure on their rivals heading into the final five games of the season. Both teams picked up maximum points in midweek as the Citizens beat Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool thrashed Manchester United.

With City one point ahead in the race for the title, Liverpool will be hoping they can pounce if Guardiola's men drop any more points between now and the end of the campaign. Despite currently sitting behind City in the table, former Chelsea midfielder Fabregas believes that it must be 'so exciting being a Liverpool fan'.

He said: "Even though they are competing vs one of the best teams in the last few years in Man City, it must be so exciting being a Liverpool fan the last couple of years. What Klopp has created around the club it’s actually amazing and you can feel the energy in every game. A role model."

It is safe to say Klopp has done a terrific job at Anfield since taking over from Brendan Rodgers in November 2015. The 54-year-old has recorded a 61.3% win rate, having secured 228 victories from his 372 games in charge.

In his first season, Klopp guided the Reds to the Europa League final but ended up falling to defeat against Sevilla. He continued to improve Liverpool and made a number of shrewd
