Man City 4-1 Man Utd: Micah Richards celebrates next to Roy Keane

Manchester City restored their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table after they trounced rivals Manchester United 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kevin de Bruyne got the Citizens off to a flying start in the opening five minutes of the match, but their lead was short-lived, with Jadon Sancho levelling soon after with a well-taken finish from the edge of the penalty area.

De Bruyne hit back just six minutes later, firing in his second of the match before Riyad Mahrez followed up with a brace of second-half goals to complete a convincing win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

While there was a lot to celebrate for the Man City faithful, the result spelt further issues for Ralf Rangnick’s side, who seem to be slipping further away from a place in next year’s Champions League.

The German manager has been in charge at the club for five months now since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it’s debatable whether results on the field have been improving under the new caretaker manager.

The Red Devils now face a tall task overthrowing Arsenal in the race for fourth place, with Mikel Arteta’s side currently enjoying a fine run of form, having not lost any of their last five league matches.

And while things look bleak for United, former Man City defender Micah Richards was quick to revel in the win on Sunday afternoon.
