Sir Alex Ferguson heckled by Man City fan after Man Utd's 4-1 defeat

Sir Alex Ferguson was a disappointed spectator at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as Manchester United were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City.

The Red Devils were outclassed by their rivals, who played them off the park in the second half to move six points ahead at the top of the Premier League.

For United, it was a stark reminder of the gulf in talent that has developed since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

There was a 15-minute stretch in the second half where Pep Guardiola’s side had 92 per cent of the possession. 92 per cent!

“Yesterday was a fitting memorial to the ‘Ed Woodward/Glazer’ last 10 years of mismanagement,” Sky Sports pundit and former United defender Gary Neville wrote on Twitter.

So it wasn’t an enjoyable afternoon for Ferguson, who was trolled by City fans who unfurled a banner that read ‘Not in my lifetime’ inside the stadium.

It was a reference to Ferguson’s reply in 2009 when asked if City could ever be the dominant force in the Manchester derby.
