Major road closed due to 'police incident' - latest updates
A major road in north Manchester is closed this evening due to a 'police incident'.
The A62 Oldham Road is closed in its north-westerly direction, which takes traffic from Manchester city centre towards Oldham and the M60. It is closed at the junction with Grimshaw Lane, in Miles Platting.
Drivers are being advised to use Briscoe Lane, and check if their bus service is affected by the disruption. The exact nature of the incident is unknown at this stage.

"Due to a police incident, the road is currently CLOSED in its north-westerly direction on the approach to the junction with Grimshaw Lane," a tweet from Transport for Greater Manchester said at 4:50pm. "Consider alternate routes such as Briscoe Lane."

Traffic monitoring service Inrix has confirmed that the road is closed in both directions. Congestion is building in the area, it adds.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the A62 on Oldham Road, Manchester at around 4pm today (Monday 20 February 2023) regarding a serious road traffic collision involving a motorbike.
The extent of the injuries suffered are unclear at this time with medical treatment still being received.
