Major out-of-window exit update now emerges on 'key' Everton ace; Lampard green lights deal

Everton defender Yerry Mina is interested in joining Flamengo, with the Toffees not expected to stand in his way.

Mina, who was labelled as ‘key’ by Michael Ball in regards to the club’s strong start to the season, is currently sidelined through injury.

He was picked to start by Frank Lampard in his first Premier League game in charge as manager against Newcastle, but the 27-year-old lasted just 35 minutes and had to be replaced with a thigh problem.

Lampard has since confirmed that Mina is set to be out until April, however, by then, he may have a new club, going off recent reports.

According to South American outlet Torcedores, Flamengo’s priority is to sign a defender before the Brazilian window closes on April 12 and they are weighing up a loan offer for Mina which would include an option to buy.

The report adds that Mina is interested in hearing the proposal from the Brazilian side, with Lampard and co also interested in facilitating a possible exit.

Everton paid Barcelona £27.3m for Mina back in 2018 when the defender’s market value at the time was £18m.

His Transfermarkt valuation still stands at £18m, however, with Mina now into the final 18 months of his contract at Goodison Park, you’d expect that the Toffees could struggle to recoup all of the £27.3m fee with Flamengo.

It seems as if Lampard is happy for Mina to depart, perhaps due to his inability to stay fit, and providing the buy option fee is respectable, it could be a wise call to move the Colombian on, leaving Lampard with four more reliable centre-back options.

In other news: ‘Excellent’ Everton ace the subject of transfer race, he’s been offered 25% salary hike.
