Main road closed with police scene in place after crash involving cyclist

A stretch of a main road in Stockport is closed off this afternoon after a crash.

Wellington Road North - the A6 - is currently shut off in both directions from Belmont Way to the Travis Brow Link Road. A police scene is in place.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers responded to reports of a crash between a cyclist and a car at around 11.50am. The cyclist was rushed to hospital by paramedics.

The extent of their injuries has not yet been confirmed at this stage. A cordon is now in place with officers remaining on the scene on the A6.

The cyclist was taken to hospital by paramedics on the scene, a spokesperson for GMP said.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, the A6 - Wellington Road North, has been closed in both directions.

It is shut from Belmont Way to the Travis Brow Link Road.
