Maidstone United sign right-back Dermi Lusala from fellow National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge

Maidstone United have signed defender Dermi Lusala from National League South rivals Dagenham & Redbridge.

Lusala, 23, came through the academies at Brentford and Tottenham before joining Coventry.

The right-back had spells with Buxton and Matlock Town after moving into non-league football, earning a transfer to Dagenham last summer.

Lusala, a former England under-16 international, enjoyed an impressive campaign in National League South, making 34 appearances and scoring three goals for the Daggers.

Stones boss Craig Fagan said: “Dermi is a player we've admired for some time. He has excellent athletic attributes, is comfortable on the ball and possesses the mentality we look for in this squad.

“He is young, ambitious and eager to continue improving, and we believe Maidstone United is the perfect place for him to take the next step in his career."

Maidstone had been in the market for a new right-back after releasing David Sesay at the end of last season.
