Maidstone United midfielder Riley Court on the buzz of scoring a hat-trick for his hometown club in 8-0 victory over Enfield Town

Teenager Riley Court says his confidence is sky-high after scoring the first hat-trick of his career in Maidstone’s record-breaking midweek victory.

Hometown midfielder Court led the way as the Stones thumped Enfield Town 8-0 on Tuesday night for their biggest-ever home league win at the Gallagher Stadium.

The 19-year-old shone brightest in what was a sparkling team performance from George Elokobi’s side.

He’s been brilliant since nailing down a place in the starting XI last November but hit new heights in the Enfield win.

Court, proudly clutching the match ball, said: “My confidence is sky-high at the moment but that’s all thanks to the team and especially the gaffer and Craig (Fagan, assistant manager).

“They’ve given me that confidence to go out there and do what I do.

“I think I deserve my place in the team but that all comes down to the gaffer putting the trust in me in the first place.

“He didn’t have to do that but as soon as he did, I tried to showcase what I can do, so I can stay in the team.

“I like to think we’ve got a really good relationship, so it’s good playing under him.”

Court scored a fifth-minute opener and added his second in first-half stoppage time as Maidstone led 4-0 at the break.

He completed his hat-trick early in the second half and was substituted to a standing ovation in the closing stages.

“The buzz of scoring a hat-trick is something you can’t explain,” said Court.

“Only people on a football pitch know that feeling.

“The whole crowd cheering my name, I love it.

“I genuinely don’t think there’s anything like scoring a goal in front of a big crowd.”

Court’s confidence is shared by the team after a first win in seven National League South games.

They’re up to 11th after building on their 1-1
