Maidstone United manager George Elokobi speaks about Christie Pattisson’s return to the club
George Elokobi says it’s a joy to have Christie Pattisson back at Maidstone United.
Winger Pattisson was part of the Stones side who won National League South under Hakan Hayrettin in 2022.
He went on to have spells in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with Waterford and Glentoran respectively, but is back at United on a deal to the end of the season.
He’d been training at the Gallagher Stadium after returning to England and a deal was concluded at the end of last week.
Pattisson appeared as a second-half substitute in Maidstone’s 1-0 win over Farnborough on Saturday and Elokobi is delighted to have him back.
“Christie’s always trained with us when he’s had his time off and it’s something he’s wanted to do more than anything.
“He had other offers on the table, that were better than ours, but he chose this football club because he’s got a connection with our supporters, with myself, with the management team.
“He enjoyed it when he trained here, the players made him feel welcome and he loves the way we do things because we try to do things the right way in terms of our preparation, but also we look after individuals.
“He’s just a joy to have back with the experience he’s got.
“He’s won this division before, so I thought it was the right fit.
“We had a discussion and he said, ‘I just want to be a part of it and try and help and connect back with the supporters and put on the jersey one more time’, so I’m absolutely delighted he chose us.”
Pattisson was given a lovely reception by home fans when he came on for the final 20 minutes against Farnborough.
And he was quickly into the action as Maidstone claimed another crucial win in their play-off bid.
“Christie is a popular player here from his time with us,” said
