Maidstone United midfielder Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong on rejoining the club and what he’s been up to during his time out of football
Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong joked he’s the “March signing that you know is coming” after rejoining Maidstone.
For the second year running, the midfielder has returned to the Gallagher Stadium for the final few games of the National League South season.
In total, it’s his third spell with the club, having been part of the side who reached the FA Cup fifth round in 2024.
Berkeley-Agyepong hadn’t played since last season’s play-off final defeat at Boreham Wood, unable to agree terms with Maidstone and seeing a move to America fall through.
He’s used his time well, however, working in media production while co-founding a running club for free-agent footballers to keep fit.
The Grenada international had been back training with Maidstone since watching their 1-1 draw against league leaders Dorking towards the end of February.
And he’s back on board to see if he can help United sneak into the play-offs again.
“Third time’s a charm, usually, so hopefully we get over the line,” said Berkeley-Agyepong.
“I’m the March signing that you know is coming.
“I came to watch the Dorking game, I came in the Thursday after and I’ve been training ever since.
“George Fowler said to me ‘you only come here if something good happens’.
“I signed here and we had the FA Cup run, I signed back and we got to the play-off final, so this year hopefully we go one step further.
“It’s definitely on. The league table is tight as I look at it. Anyone can get in there.
“We saw last season, we nicked in and people thought we were out of it.
“We thought Boreham Wood were out of it when we beat them 4-0 here and then they went and got promoted, so anything can happen. You know this league is crazy.”
