Maidstone United manager George Elokobi says Dajon Golding suffered significant ankle ligament damage during last week’s Kent Senior Cup win over Ebbsfleet as sides prepare to meet again in the league

Dajon Golding looks set for a lengthy spell out after suffering ankle ligament damage during Maidstone’s Kent Senior Cup win over Ebbsfleet.

The sides meet again at the Gallagher Stadium tonight, a week on from the Stones’ 4-0 semi-final success, with National League South points up for grabs.

But eight-goal forward Golding won’t be involved after a challenge from Finlay Barnes in the cup clash led to his withdrawal before half-time and a trip to hospital.

Maidstone manager George Elokobi was unhappy with the challenge, which earned a booking.

“Dajon has done some significant damage to the medial and lateral ligaments on his ankle,” said Elokobi.

“We’re all for being competitive, we’re all for challenging fairly, but when it’s over the ball, with the force that the player did, and it’s deemed by certain people that it was a tactical foul, then that’s crossing the line.

“On the advice of our club doctor, when it happened, we had to take him straight to A&E.

“Thankfully there’s no break but this is the damage and he’s not going to be available any time soon.

“Sometimes you are lucky with challenges and sometimes you come out worse.

“Dajon came out worse but the medical team will do their utmost to ensure he’s looked after.”

Defender Lexus Beeden, meanwhile, has had an MRI scan on his knee, and remains sidelined.

“We’re waiting for the specialist to look at it, and then we’ll go from there,” said Elokobi. “There’s no timescale yet.”

Deon Moore scored a hat-trick and David Sesay also struck in Maidstone’s Kent Senior Cup victory.

But that result will have no bearing as United look to start another run after losing for the first time in seven league games against Hemel last weekend.
