Maidstone United manager George Elokobi says Riley Court’s contract extension a fantastic moment for the player and his family

Maidstone United manager George Elokobi is thrilled with Riley Court’s progress.

Midfielder Court signed a contract extension at Christmas, taking him through to the end of next season.

He joins defender Taylor Foran and new signing Mo Faal in being on board for the 2026/27 campaign, with the 19-year-old rewarded for a string of outstanding performances.

He’s started 10 successive games in all competitions, by far his best run since making his debut as a late substitute against Chippenham in September 2023.

Court’s rise at his hometown club, having been released by Chelsea’s academy, shows what can be achieved.

He’s a role model for players coming through the ranks and also coaches youngsters.

“He’s been very consistent in terms of, not just this season, but the last three seasons he’s been patient, he’s learning, he’s having mature performances and he’s kept his head down,” said Elokobi.

“There’s still lots of improvements to be done but when you look at what he contributes not just on the pitch but off it, he’s like a face of the academy as well for us to show that it can be done, that there is a pathway here under our management team.

“If you do it right and you’re willing to put yourself every day through the pain, like I call it, and listen and learn and take constructive criticism in a positive way, then it’s only a matter of time.

“Riley possesses different attributes, he’s a quality player, technically very good on the ball and he will get better.

“He’s a confident young man, he’s a brave young man and a top lad in the changing room, always wanting to be a part of whatever is going on, which is good.

“He communicates right but he’s not scared to voice his opinion, which we like in the environment.”

Court’s dad,
