Maidstone United manager George Elokobi says the best is still to come from TJ Bramble and talks tactics and injuries before Bath City match
Maidstone United manager George Elokobi is backing TJ Bramble to get better and better.
Midfielder Bramble is enjoying an impressive first season at the Gallagher Stadium and last Saturday scored a brilliant overhead kick in a 1-0 win over Salisbury.
It was a second goal in three matches for Bramble, whose all-action game has made him popular with fans, team-mates and management alike.
He recently captained his country, too, being handed the armband for Antigua & Barbuda, so he’s in a good place.
“TJ’s playing with enjoyment,” said Elokobi.
“He’s an exciting player but also a team player.
“When we brought him in, we knew he could play in several positions but it’s about making sure in that midfield area he’s the general in there and he’s been ever-present because he looks after himself on and off the pitch.
“We knew he could come up with those goals because he’s quite good aerially as well (scoring a header at Dorking) and he’s got good movement in the box, and he’s got quality as well technically.
“He possesses these abilities and the more we keep coaching him and he keeps taking it in, he’s going to get better and better.
“But he’s also got his feet on the ground, which is important.
“We knew what season he had last season (suffering relegation with Welling) and we told him it’s about coming here, being a part of a successful club and he’s enjoying it, so long may it continue.
“Congratulations to him for being named captain of his international team as well, for his country, that’s a great accolade.
“All of that is extra motivation, so I’m delighted with him.”
Bramble’s strike against Salisbury was the stand-out moment in a game that otherwise won’t live long in the memory.
Elokobi wants to entertain as much as anybody
