Maidstone United manager George Elokobi’s reaction following 1-0 National League South home defeat against Maidenhead United

George Elokobi says he was screaming from the touchline to try to prevent the goal that saw Maidstone beaten by Maidenhead.

The Stones slipped to a fourth successive defeat in all competitions after losing 1-0 at home to the Magpies in National League South on Saturday.

The visitors’ winner was scored by Matt Robinson after Elokobi’s side were found wanting at a long throw from Jordon Ragguette.

Ex-Stones defender Will De Havilland won the first ball and Robinson eventually slammed home as the hosts’ organisation was called into question.

Maidstone have slipped to 16th in the table after a third league defeat in a row, while they were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Folkestone last week.

It was another frustrating goal to concede for Stones boss Elokobi, whose team haven’t scored in their last four games.

He said: “We started well in the first half and then we didn’t look after small details in terms of a restart.

“We’ve worked on it in training.

“It’s about making sure we don’t have spare players in the box and winning the first contacts.

“Too many times in the first half I think we let things bounce in the box and we have to be honest.

“The players were honest, we shouldn’t be conceding a goal like that, but we did.

“We knew they had a long throw, just like most teams in this league, and we’ve got to be manful enough to head those away out of our box.

“We can see it on the sideline, based on organisation, and we’re trying to scream to pass the information across because we had two players not marking anyone.

“But it’s about the organisation, it’s about carrying on doing what we’re doing in terms of our preparation, giving them as much detail as we’ve always done.
