Maidstone United manager George Elokobi discusses Taylor Foran’s vocal qualities and says defender is getting back to his best after injury
Taylor Foran did his talking on the pitch in Maidstone’s win at Salisbury - and plenty of it.
Foran was outstanding at the back as the Stones collected another clean sheet in a 1-0 National League South victory.
At 22, the former Arsenal youngster is one of the most vocal players in the team, and he certainly made himself heard at the RayMac Stadium on Saturday.
Not only for his organisational skills in central defence, but also in making his feelings clear as United regularly strayed offside at the other end.
Stones boss George Elokobi loves the vocal side to Foran’s game and understood where his centre-half was coming from.
“The entire squad, they are all winners,” said Elokobi.
“Some players are a little bit quieter than others but, as a fellow centre-back myself, if I’m trying to keep clean sheets and the defensive unit is trying to keep clean sheets for one another, then we don’t want the ball to keep coming back to us.
“We don’t want it to become a basketball match.
“So he was right in terms of his vocals, in terms of being loud, he just wants to make sure the forward line stay onside, because the balls we were playing over the top, having analysed they were going to keep a high line, it was important our forward line listen to him.
“It’s frustrating as a defender when you’re playing good balls and by half a yard or two yards, the centre-forwards are not making the right runs.

“He’s got that in him, those are the leadership qualities to ensure that can you organise, can you affect, can you impact other players away from the ball?
“And that’s what Taylor Foran brings, he lets people know.
“It’s not coming from a bad place, it’s coming from a good place.”
