Maidstone United manager Craig Fagan determined to prove they are no easy three points for bogey side Dorking Wanderers as assistant boss Rob Tuvey returns to his old club
Craig Fagan wants Maidstone to prove they are no “easy three points” at bogey side Dorking this weekend.
The Stones have never won a league game against Marc White’s team but hope to change that at Meadowbank on Saturday (3pm).
“I’ve heard Marc White talk about us (in the past), saying it’s an easy three points. Well, we’ll see on Saturday,” said Maidstone manager Fagan.
“It’s a different team now. We’ll go there with confidence and see what happens. It’s going to be a good game, no matter what.”
Fagan, whose side drew 1-1 with Folkestone in National League South on Tuesday night, added: “He always says when you listen to the documentaries, ‘Oh, it’s Maidstone, it’s going to be an easy result or an easy three points’, so we’re looking forward to it.
“It’s just more motivation for us but, again, it’s just another game. It’s nothing more than three points for us that we’re trying to get and another good away performance.”
Maidstone potentially have a not-so-secret weapon in assistant manager Rob Tuvey, who left his role as Dorking No.2 to link up with Fagan at the Gallagher Stadium.
He’ll know plenty about the Wanderers but manager-owner White could easily have something up his sleeve in a bid to get the upper hand once again.
“Will it help? Maybe. Maybe not,” said Fagan. “Someone else is assisting Marc now with his own ideas.
“There’s been a lot of changes at the club since Rob’s left. Some of it will be the same. Some of it won’t be.
“I’m sure Marc will be changing stuff on purpose to try and catch us out but I’m looking forward to it.
“Rob’s here now and that’s the end of the story.
