Maidstone United make it three summer signings in one day as defender Sam Oguntayo and forward Jesse Nwabueze follow attacker Dajon Golding through door
Maidstone have taken their tally to three new signings in one day.
Left‑back Sam Oguntayo, 22, was confirmed as a new recruit by George Elokobi’s National League South side after attacker Dajon Golding had agreed terms.
Young forward Jesse Nwabueze also linked-up with the Stones on Friday.
Oguntayo told the club’s media team: “I came in on trial about four weeks ago and have been playing and training.
“I played against Chatham (in a 1-0 pre-season friendly loss at home) - but picked up a knock. I was injured, out for a week, but got back into training and felt good again.
“I’ve impressed enough to earn myself a contract here so I’m happy to be on board.”
Nwabueze, 21, joins after a spell at Bath City, having come through Ipswich’s Academy.
Maidstone manager Elokobi said: “We’re very pleased to bring Jesse into our set-up. He’s a forward with real potential - strong, mobile and determined.
“We believe he can develop significantly here and contribute to our promotion push.”
Meanwhile, Oguntayo featured prominently for divisional rivals Chelmsford, including making his league debut for the Clarets in a goalless draw with the Stones in January, before he left at the end of last campaign.
Prior to his time in Essex, Oguntayo had spells with Lewes and Eastbourne Borough.
“I’m a very explosive player,” he said. “I like getting up and down the pitch as much as possible.
“[I’m] a very attacking full-back and I think those are my qualities that I can show in a lot of games in terms of creating chances but, also, in terms of recoveries with my speed.”
Elokobi has completed four summer signings this week, keeper Nathan Harness also having put pen to paper.
