FA Cup preliminary round weekend round-up as Snodland Town, Whitstable Town, Margate, Sittingbourne, Erith Town and Sheppey United all safely progress
Two-goal Harry Hudson helped Snodland Town to an FA Cup preliminary round success at higher-division Harrow Borough on Saturday.
Hudson broke the deadlock in the 17th minute and, soon after Harry Nevins had been red-carded for the Isthmian South Central hosts, the vastly-experienced Connor Dymond made it 2-0 to Snodland.
Substitute Gareth Chendlik pulled one back four minutes from time but Hudson had the last laugh, completing a 3-1 victory in stoppage time.
Whitstable were 5-0 winners against Newhaven at home.
There were braces for forward Jack Nelson and versatile midfielder Robbie Rees, with midfielder Henry Young also among the goals for Lee Martin’s men at The Belmont.
It’s now three wins on the spin for new Margate manager Jamie Coyle and No.2 Matt Longhurst, who saw off divisional rivals Peacehaven & Telscombe 4-1 on the road.
Goals by defender Finn O’Mara, midfielder Bradley Schafer, Oghosa Williams and striker Javaun Splatt saw Gate safely progress.
An injury-time Jordan Greenidge goal saw Sittingbourne to a 2-1 victory at Erith & Belvedere after Clarence Tambe had cancelled out a third goal in two games from striker Harvey Smith.
Sheppey United beat lower-league Rusthall 3-0 on the road.
With all the goals coming after the break, two-goal D’Jean Spencer and substitute Shaquille Gordon did the damage.
It was a similar story for Erith Town, who saw off Eastbourne Town 3-0 at home.
George Goodwin opened the scoring just before the hour and Harry Taylor bagged a brace.
Striker Jamie Kennedy’s effort proved in vain as Deal went down 2-1 to Southall at home while Bearsted were beaten 3-0 at Egham Town.
